Skincare for Menopausal Skin

Menopause is an inevitable part of ageing, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be celebrated!

Our Ethos

Menopause is an inevitable part of ageing, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be celebrated – relief from menstruation, no more PMS, no more contraception and increased sexual freedom are just some of the perks. Once heavily stigmatised, menopause is finally having its moment in the sun, and we at Medical Aesthetic are rejoicing the fact that women don’t feel as if they should suffer through it.

Menopause is a natural response to the process of ageing; it’s our body making physical changes that allow us to continue a fulfilling and healthy life. Of course, there’s no way (yet) of staying young forever, and some of these changes do have detrimental effects on our skin. Fortunately, there are ways in which these changes can be slowed, halted or even reversed.

At Medical Aesthetic, we combine our deep experience and expertise with the latest research and technology to fight the signs of ageing so you can celebrate the benefits of menopause while minimising the downsides.

How does menopause affect the skin?

Menopause causes many changes to our skin. As women age, our oestrogen levels naturally decline, which in turn affects our dermal collagen. Within the first five years of menopause, we lose up to 30% of our dermal collagen, followed by a steady 2.1% decline over subsequent years.

Collagen is an important factor in our skin’s health and plumpness. A drop in its level will, therefore, have consequences on our appearance. We’ll lose some fat under our skin and experience a drop in elasticity. We’ll also go through hormonal changes that cause dryness and lead to sagging, wrinkles and fine lines.

The Multi-Model Approach

Appropriate skincare for menopausal skin requires a multifaceted approach. At Medical Aesthetic, we have combined the latest research and technology with our own experience and expertise to design a treatment course that combats the effects of ageing skin. It’s a four step programs that involves:

Anti-wrinkle injections that soften fine lines and wrinkles by disrupting signal transmissions between nerves and muscles. This leads to a younger, fresher look by stopping the muscles from contracting, which causes wrinkles.

Regular Ultraformer III is a world-leading ultrasound device that provides lifting, tightening and contouring. This non-surgical treatment makes use of micro-focused ultrasound energy to contract collagen fibres and encourage long-term collagen production.

Sculptra dermal fillers are used to restore collagen volume that is lost with age. Derived from a natural sugar found within the skin itself, hyaluronic acid gels re-introduce volume to various areas of the face, creating a fuller, more vibrant countenance.

Empelle home care products to improve the natural function of oestrogen-deficient skin. This remarkable line of skincare products is the first and only to use MEP technology, a non-hormonal molecule used to address collagen loss.
