LASER HAIR REMOVAL – YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Thinking about laser hair removal but feeling overwhelmed by the about of information that’s is on offer? Fear not, below we have answered some of the most frequently asked questions about the procedure.
IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL PERMANENT?
The treatment is designed to permanently reduce hair growth by damaging the hairs follicle. With consistent treatment patients can see up to a 90% reduction in hair growth. The hair that does grow back will also be more fine that it was previously. However, the procedure is not permanent and complete regrowth can occur after a year or so of your last session.
IS MY HAIR / SKIN TYPE SUITABLE?
People with darker hair usually see the best results from treatment due to the lasers being able to target the pigment more effectively. However, there are techniques that have been developed in order to make treatment on lighter hair colours more efficient.
An experienced technician will always perform a patch test prior to your treatment to gauge your skin and hairs suitability. They will also closely monitor how well your skin and hair react to the first treatment and inform you of how well the procedure will work for you in the long term.

DOES IT HURT?
Laser hair removal does not hurt as much as some other hair removal techniques such as waxing. That being said you may experience some slight discomfort during the procedure. The sensation of the laser is said to feel like being flicked by a rubber band. Darker skin tones are often most sensitive to treatment as there is more pigment in the hair and skin.
WHERE ON THE BODY CAN I HAVE TREATMENT?
Laser hair removal can be performed on most areas of the body where hair is present. The most popular areas of treatment are usually the underarms, bikini line, upper lip and legs. The area underneath the eyebrow cannot be treated as it is too close to the delicate eye area.
HOW LONG DOES A SESSION LAST?
This all depends on the area in which you are being treated. Smaller areas such as the upper lip can take at little at 15 minutes whereas larger areas such as the legs or back can take over an hour. For men having brazilian laser hair removal a bit longer.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
This varies from person to person. There are many variables which affect how well the treatments work which include time in-between treatments, hair type and hair texture. In most cases the best results are seen after between 4 and 6 sessions.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
Depending on the area which is being treated you should see an improvement in hair growth after each visit. This improvement becomes more noticeable with every session with most people seeing the best results after approximately 3-6 months of continued treatment.
